As of this writing, @POTUS (President of the United States) only follows 13 people. Among the people being followed: Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, First Lady Jill Biden, several Biden aides, and celebrity Chrissy Teigen.
“OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!” Teigen tweeted upon learning on Jan. 20 that the new president follows her. She followed that up with another tweet that said, “my heart oh my god lmao I can finally see the president’s tweets and they probably won’t be unhinged.”
Teigen said in 2017 that she had been blocked from seeing tweets from the @POTUS account under President Trump.
Teigen, perhaps recognizing that President Biden could now be reading her thoughts, also tweeted, “I should prob never tweet again.”
Kinda makes you wonder if Teigen was paying attention at the inauguration, where her husband, singer John Legend, performed. The theme of the inauguration was “America United.” Calling a sitting senator a “fucking clown” is hardly unifying behavior.
Teigen then observed that it would be, “A miracle if my potus follow lasts the full four years.”
President Trump used his Twitter account to directly speak to the American public, unfiltered by the media. It was a powerful tool that gave Trump unprecedented ability to communicate with his followers. His personal @RealDonaldTrump account had more than 88 million followers before he was banned from using the service by Twitter.
Biden does not seem to be using his account the same way. On Sunday, the @POTUS account tweeted that Biden’s favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate chip.
