Former superstar Bette Midler is facing widespread backlash today for her comments during FLOTUS Melania Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention.

The actress/singer went on an unprompted xenophobic rant on Twitter during the RNC broadcast.

“#beBest is back!” She said, mocking Melania’s Be Best initiative which focuses on improving the well-being for youth, and advocating against cyberbullying and drug use. “A UGE bore!  She can speak several words in a few languages.  Get that illegal alien off the stage!”

“Oh, God.  She still can’t speak English,” she continued. “Anodyne, anodyne, nothing but simple minded pablum.  ‘I have to remind myself that I am very lucky.’  I completely agree!  You are one lucky Slovenian!   And after all that surgery, you hit a kind of horrible jackpot, chained to an colossal idiot.”

The tweets came as she live tweeted the event and were mixed in with other degrading, insulting remarks about the President and other speakers about the event. Her other remarks didn’t include racism but were equally tasteless. “Melania lacks warmth so severely that I just had to turn my AC down,” said a later tweet. “Why are they promoting this awful person, #melania? Was it in her contract?  She says it feels like just yesterday they were at their first convention.  Maybe to you, Mel.  For the rest of us every day has been a horrible slog thru the 9th Circle of Hell.  #beBust,” she fumed in another.

She also insinuated that Eric, Kimberly, and Don Jr. were on drugs during their speeches, “#Eric didn’t seem like he was on drugs tonight. I’m sure his brother and Kimberly refused to share.”

The insults are nothing new for the Trump family, but the brash racism comes as a surprise from Midler, who has criticized the Trump administration for their stances on illegal immigration.

In May 2019, she criticized the White House for their tariffs on Mexico, “White House officials did not immediately explain how driving up the cost of Mexican goods might stem the flow of migrants. If the tariffs damaged the Mexican economy, wouldn’t more of its citizens would try to cross the border to find work in the United States?” Two months later, she mocked Melania for wearing what looked like a “Mexican Folklore Dress” and said President Trump was “delighted by other despots and casual cruelty to small creatures like children,” referring to his border policy.

Unlike most modern celebrities who hit ‘delete’ as fast as possible after sharing racist or offensive things, she has elected to keep the tweets up despite the near universal backlash. Though she later apologized for her remarks

Look in the Mirror

Ever since President Trump was elected, everything he has done and said has been framed as “racist” by the mainstream media and Hollywood elite. They have viewed every offhand remark, hand gesture, and policy under a microscope hoping to find something even remotely racist. When they can’t, they make it up.

There was the ridiculous issue of the “OK” hand symbol that was widely said to be a “secret white power salute” after Republicans started using it. Saying President Trump’s lack of response to KKK leader David Duke’s endorsement is a tacit approval. Or misconstruing his words countless times from the Charlottesville protest to jokes like “Kung Flu” when referring to the COVID-19 virus. Celebrities and the media continually remove context to paint this administration and Republicans at large as racists.

In their minds, Republicans = racists and there’s nothing they can say or do to change it. But apparently, it’s OK when talking about Republicans. They feel Democrats are the party for people of color and nothing they say can be racist.

Democrats Love People of Color, Until They Disagree

Liberal celebrities only support people of color when they support their ideals or they can leverage them for political points. When they disagree it’s “go back to your country.” There is a mentality among liberal celebrities and the Democratic Party to support immigrants if they agree with their policies and then cast them out and even call them “racist” at times for supporting Republicans or Donald Trump. Joe Biden put it best in his interview with Charlamagne tha God when he said “If you have a problem figuring out if you’re for me or Trump, you ain’t black.”

It’s hypocrisy, pure and simple. And Bette Midler’s comments prove that people of color are nothing more than tokens they can use to push their agenda.

Need more proof? Look at the vitriol for Tim Scott or Herschel Walker, two black men who endorsed President Trump during the RNC. They are called “traitors” and “Uncle Toms” on social media for publicly expressing their views. Minority voices only seem to matter when they vote Democrat. When any person of color dares to have a different opinion, Democrats turn into the racists they claim to condemn.

  1. Really unconscionable of Messy Midler. I felt a sincere sense of gratitude and a very maternal and caring quality in our First Lady’s speech. I am sure Our President is very proud of all the obstacles she and her family overcame to be in the Unites States of America – LEGALLY!!!

  2. She is living proof that God gives biscuits to those with no teeth! She‘s been blessed with talent and an amazing career. Yet she is soooo mean and vile!
