Is your Monday going good? We’ve got COVID-19, protests around the country, and California is on fire. But if you’re J.K. Rowling, you get to add one more thing to that list. #RIPJKRowling is now trending on Twitter.
No, the author of the “Harry Potter” series is not dead. The Woke mob is just doing their usual thing and using Twitter trends to obliterate anyone they disagree with. Rowling seems like an unsuspecting target, given her history of leaning left.
In fact, Rowling is such an outspoken critic of President Trump that there’s an article dedicated to her tweeting at him.
Harry Potter and the Author’s Twitter Adventure
Back in June of this year (before #RIPJKRowling), Rowling started to draw outrage from her former cohort. She responded on Twitter to an opinion piece published by Devex. The piece was titled Creating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruate.
Rowling tweeted back what we were all thinking. “‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
She continued on, explaining how without sex, there’s “no same-sex attraction.” This drew a lambasting from the LGBTQ community and their supporters on Twitter. She later reaffirmed her support for the trans community, but said, “at the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.”
Troubled Blood
Rowling is in deep water again with her newest book, Troubled Blood. The fifth book in her Cormoran Strike detective series, this installment features a male murderer who dresses as a woman to kill his victims.
PinkNews tweeted about it with more focus on the gender identities of the main characters. They linked to an article of theirs, saying “JK Rowling’s latest book is about a murderous cis man who dresses as a woman to kill his victims.”
The Woke mob took it from there. The hashtag #RIPJKRowling has been flooded with posts from Twitter users disgusted with the author and her positions.
Eating their own
For all intents and purposes, J.K. Rowling is a fairly “woke” celebrity. She stated as early as 2000 that she is left-wing. She made Dumbledore, one of the main characters in her Harry Potter novels, gay. She’s frequently spoken out in favor of the LGBTQ community. You couldn’t ask for a more LGBT friendly person.
But it’s still not enough. One mis-step, one misinterpreted tweet is all it takes for the mob to come for you. The most surprising thing of all is that Rowling was actually tweeting in favor of women. Under the Woke mobs newly revised criteria, cis women are not marginalized quite enough to render sympathy.
Eventually, they always come for their own. Even the founder of Hogwarts isn’t off limits.
