Jon Voight called it a “disgusting lie” that Biden won the election and urged people to fight for Trump’s victory.
The Academy Award winning actor made the comments in a short video that he shared on Twitter, which President Trump then retweeted.
“My fellow Americans, I stand here with all that feel as I do, disgusted with this lie that Biden has been chosen. As if we all don’t know the truth. And when one tries to deceive, we know that one can’t get away with it, there will be a price to pay,” Voight said while speaking directly to the camera.
“The ones who are jumping for joy now are jumping toward the horror they will be in for, because I know that the promises being made from the Left to the American people will never come to be.”
Voight, 81, went on to say in the nearly two-minute-long video that this is the greatest fight since the Civil War, and a battle against evil. He also claimed that the ballot count is corrupt.
“My friends of all colors, races and religions, this is now our greatest fight since the Civil War: the battle of righteousness versus Satan. Yes, Satan. Because these Leftists are evil, corrupt, and they want to tear down this nation. We must not allow this. We must fight this corruption that has taken over the fight for the good that seems lost. Let us give our trust to God and fight now for Trump’s victory because we all know this ballot count is corruption like they are. So let us not back down. Let us fight this fight as if it is our last fight on Earth.”
Twitter added a warning label to Voight’s Nov. 10 message that says, “This claim about election fraud is disputed.”
Voight, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his work playing sports broadcaster Howard Cosell in the 2001 movie Ali, closed by quoting the boxing champ:
“As Muhammad Ali said, ‘It’s not over til the last punch you have.’ God bless.”
Voight’s “Ray Donovan” co-star Eddie Marsan clearly seems fed up listening to Voight’s take on politics. On Election Day, Marsan tweeted a picture of himself sitting at a table next to a standing Voight, and wrote:
“Hey America, I know this is the most important election ever & the survival of your democratic institutions and the soul of America is at stake but…can we just take it back to me for a second. Please vote for Joe Biden, I can’t spend another 4 years listening to this bullshit.”
The Showtime series (starring Live Schreiber as the title character) was canceled in February after seven seasons, despite strong ratings. Voight played Ray Donovan’s father, an ex-con released from prison named Mickey, and Marsan played Ray’s brother Terry.
Marsan has had roles in Gangs of New York, V for Vendetta, The Illusionist, Miami Vice, Sherlock Holmes, Snow White and the Huntsman, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Vice, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Voight was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor a total of three times, and one once. He was nominated for his work in the movies Midnight Cowboy and Runaway Train; he won in 1979 for his performance in the movie “Coming Home” about the Vietnam War. His co-star in that movie, Jane Fonda, won her second of two Oscars for Best Actress for her work in that same movie.
Fonda recently said that the coronavirus pandemic was “God’s gift to the Left” because it would help get rid of Trump. It’s safe to say that those two are on opposite ends of the political spectrum.
