Celebrities are fast becoming super-spreaders of the “covid hoax” disinformation following the news that President Trump has coronavirus, and their Twitter followers are eating it up like baby birds swallowing regurgitated stomach contents.
Actors are online yucking it up, enjoying the irony of the idea that the president called the coronavirus a hoax only to then get infected by the virus himself. But here’s the thing: he never did that. President Trump never called the coronavirus a hoax, and that claim has already been thoroughly debunked by the Associated Press, CNN, and Snopes, among others.
Here’s what they are saying:
Dylan Minnette of the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why:
“but… but… i thought it was a hoax, donald?”
Zach Braff of Scrubs:
“But we were told this was a hoax.”
Sophia Bush of John Tucker Must Die:
“Is it still a “Democrat hoax?” Are you still going to mock people for wearing masks? Are you sorry for lying to the American people for months? I ask these b/c I assume you’ll get the best taxpayer funded gov’t healthcare avail + genuinely hope you recover. But you owe us answers”
Greg Grunberg of Alias:
“NEWS: POTUS CONFIRMS HE HAS THE HOAX”
Anthony Rapp of Star Trek: Discovery:
“Wow. He tested positive. As did Melania. Will his supporters still say this is a hoax? I guess it sort of depends on whether or not he gets very ill from it?”
Rob Reiner of All in the Family:
“That damn hoax.”
Yvette Nicole Brown of Community:
“But how?
HOW do you test positive for a Democratic Hoax?
I am baffled by this news.”
Dove Cameron of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.:
“but…why would you get tested for the hoax when you’ve said many times that is what causes the hoax? that was your first mistake !!! i just can’t believe the democrats would do this to you. them and all their irresponsible hoaxes.”
If the premise is false, why do so many celebs seem to earnestly believe that the president called the coronavirus a hoax? Is this an example of the Mandela Effect? Or are they really remembering some alternate reality in which this actually happened? No. The Biden campaign pushed out a deceptively edited video to make it seem like the president said that.
Here’s what really happened: the president said that allegations of Russian collusion were a hoax, and that charges from Democrats that his administration was not taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously was their new hoax.
Here is how the Associate Press described the situation:
“Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is presenting a distorted account of President Donald Trump’s words on the coronavirus, wrongly suggesting Trump branded the virus a hoax.
In fact, Trump pronounced Democratic criticism of his pandemic response a hoax.”
And here’s what CNN said:
“This is a misleading attempt to suggest that Trump specifically called the coronavirus a hoax. While Trump’s comments were a bit confusing, Biden’s ad leaves out important context and dishonestly edits the two soundbites together.”
And here’s what Snopes said:
“Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax.”
President Trump did not call the coronavirus a hoax, yet celebs are dunking on the president for something he never said. This perfectly illustrates how some people are able to get so deep inside a partisan bubble that they will repeat a complete fabrication as though it were the truth, and feel smugly superior while being undeniably wrong.
Isn’t it ironic?
BONUS:
Comedian Ken Jeong (of “The Hangover” franchise and “Community) is a real-life doctor. He took the opportunity to remind people to wear a mask.
It’s a good reminder. And a better idea than when he wore blackface.

Hmmm, it almost seems as if these actors are…idiots! 😉
Yes No
My ignorance of pop culture – by design – gives me immunity to the disturbance these no name idiots attempt to peddle. With the exception of Jon Voight, James Woods and a handful of others, I don’t know a single person in films by name .
